Head of Finance

Daniel Sia is a fourth year student at The University of Melbourne. After being named Valedictorian of his class and achieving numerous academic awards, he is on track to completing his Honours in Economics in 2015.

Daniel also has extensive experience in tertiary level tutoring both with the University and privately, specializing in Economics and Finance. Along with that, he also had the experience of interning at Deloitte and EY in their consulting division and represented the University of Melbourne at a Global Business Case Competition in Seattle.

Daniel’s teaching style focuses on a number of key areas:

Sam is a Business Analyst at A.T. Kearney based in Melbourne. He has over 12 months of consulting experience specialising in strategy and financial institutions. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce and half a Law Degree from Monash University and received multiple offers from consulting firms. He is also the cofounder of Connect Education, which was the first student-run VCE lecture business in Australia. In his spare time, Sam enjoys playing golf, watching movies in fast forward and reading.

Alex is currently a consultant at a top global management consulting firm. He has over 2 years consulting experience, specialising in non-profits, small businesses and telecommunications/technology. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce/Arts from the University of Auckland, which included exchanges to the University of Melbourne and California. Alex founded the Auckland Microfinance Initiative – a non-profit student consultancy – and has worked on microfinance projects in Bangladesh and Tonga. In his spare time, Alex enjoys playing tennis and catching up with friends.

Tian is now studying master of Accounting in University of Melbourne. At the same time, she is a research assistant in department of Accounting in Faculty of Business and Economics. She received her Bachelor degrees in Law and Accounting from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics as “Shanghai Outstanding Graduates”.

During her Bachelor and Master studies, she gained rich experience in both business and legal disciplines. She participated in the consulting project in ANZ in 2014 as part of the University of Melbourne’s work experience program, had internship experience in PricewaterhouseCoopers Consultants and Medium People’s Court in China, and published one research report. Because of her high academic achievement, she was granted “International Graduate Merit Scholarship” by Faculty of Business and Economics in 2014.

With almost two years of experience as a high school tutor and academic results which earned him a place on the faculty’s Dean’s Honours List in his first year of tertiary studies, Patrick is confident he can offer students the right assistance to achieve their potential in their own tertiary studies. Patrick aims to nurture within his students a sense of passion, challenging students to extend themselves and develop their own insights. Passionate about education and student empowerment, Joyce is tutoring in the Department of Economics for a second year. She also has extensive experience in private tuition and debating adjudication, and enjoys any opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with others. Outside of her busy university life, Joyce loves tennis, musical theatre and travelling.

Joyce is studying a Bachelor of Biomedicine under the Chancellor’s Scholars Program at the University of Melbourne. She plans to pursue a combined Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health, and aims for a career in medicine and health economics.

John deeply understands the struggles and challenges faced by international students during their studies. John believes that it is relatively challenging for international students from non-English background to develop a thorough understanding of management theories. However, with his interactive and bilingual teaching philosophy (English and Mandarin), he is capable in assisting students to achieve a stronger understanding in the subject of OB.
